At night all cats are grey? Not at all and definitly not in the Ruhr area. At night in the region between the rivers Emscher and Ruhr reveal undreamt of insights and outlooks. We do not light mere lamps, but stage our main attractions with fancy illumination and light-art. If at the coking plant Zollverein in Essen, the academy Mont Cenis in Herne or at a climb on to the stockpile in Bottrop with the Tetraeder – these "nightlights" you won't forget that fast!

Adventure Ruhr Metropolis! Miner's Race Horse
Endearing curiosities of the Ruhr Metropolis: The new route to Gelsenkirchen visits the solar-settlement "Sonnenhof", a symbol for the new and technical-based orientation of the region. A stroll through the park "Rheinelbe" shows a way of handling with nature in an industrial environment and finally a visit to a local pigeon breeding club shows deep into the mysteries of the miner's race horse!

Adventure Ruhr Metropolis!  Miners, coal and the Krupp-Family
The Region is very diverse! The German Mining-Museum, the UNESCO world Heritage Zollverein pit, the Villa Hügel, home of the Krupp-Family, and the most beautiful settlement for their workers on Margarethen-hights are combined in this trip to Bochum and Essen.

Adventure Ruhr Metropolis!  Green District – Traces of Thyssen and Krupp
The green Ruhr valley is the centrepiece of this tour. Grazing castle Landsberg – where August Thyssen is buried – we follow on to settlement of Margarethen-hights in the south of Essen. Further on you experience the new "Krupp-Belt" as well as the famous park of the Villa Hügel. And finally we enjoy some great leisure time at the close-by Baldeneysee.

Adventure Ruhr Metropolis!  Culture Harbor - RUHR
During the European Culture Capital year 2010 the region was structured in a new way – the Culture Harbor Ruhr is the western part and we look into some of its impressing highlights: Starting with a short drive through the new downtown center of Duisburg the route  leads on to the heap "Rheinpreussen" in Mores. Further stations are the cloister garden of Kamp and the impressing roman town Xanten with its majestic dome.

Adventure Ruhr Metropolis!  Dortmund's Re-birth!
At present there are many restructuring projects going on in Dortmund: The new center for art and creativity in the so-called "Dortmunder U" - an outstanding building in a former brewery and protected as heritage today, is the most outstanding one. But also the construction of a complete new landscape on the ground of the former steelwork "Phoenix" with a big lake – the Phoenix-Lake – is a place worth visiting. And we take, of course, a closer look to the pit "Zollern", the most beautiful pit in the area.

Adventure Ruhr Metropolis!  Star-Catcher
High above the roofs we show you our neighbor-towns Oberhausen and Duisburg.
Two industrial heritages are worth visiting and offer great outlooks over the Ruhr are. One is Europe's biggest and highest exhibition hall – the Gasometer in Oberhausen. The other is an old watertower in Duisburg-Hochfeld, which domiciles a Turkish Café on top. Our route drags also along the old workers-settlement in Oberhausen-Eisenheim and the former smeltery, which today is a unique park in Duisburg.
